17th Century Bellarmine jug, losses to rim and missing handle. The losses were distracting for owner and it was felt a new handle was appropriate for this object. A surrogate mould was produced from original jug so that a handle could be produced without damaging original object. From this newly formed handle a silicon mould was produced and a plaster cast formed before colour matching with golden heavy bodied acrylics. A clay handle was discussed as a possible replacement but it was felt this could be misconstrued as the original.l
